Photography wasn’t my first love. But it is one of my oldest friends.

I was born in the small town of Geel, Belgium on September 7th 1984. When my family and I went on holiday, it would be me taking the pictures most of the time, with my beloved polaroid.

But it wasn’t until I was taking up photography as an elective in my journalism studies that somehow photography grew a new face. It was not only about capturing memories anymore; it could also be something more. A story, an inattentive moment, or even: a fragment of my imagination becoming reality. After graduating as a bachelor in journalism, I couldn't resist taking an intensive one year course in photography at Syntra Metropool in Antwerp. It was then that photography went from being an old friend to being my most passionate non-human lover. Or to say it with the words of The Kelly Family: “I’m in love with an alien."
